چکیده

Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the width bony cochlear nerve canal (BCNC) in children with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) and "normal" findings on thin section temporal bone CT. Material methods: BCNC retrospectively evaluated two groups patients. group included 11 (22 canals) aged 2-12 years, congenital, bilateral SNHL who underwent implantation (CI) from July December 2019 no abnormalities inner ear were detected their preoperative CT scans. Eleven patients canals), 3-10 whom had been diagnosed taken as controls scan performed for another reason - suspected acute mastoiditis, chronic otitis media, or perforation tympanic membrane. Axial sections scans used measure BCNC. Results: values bilateral, profound ranged 1.0 2.3 mm mean value 1.5±0.3 mm. In normal hearing, higher, 2.1±0.3 Conclusion: results obtained showed that impairment significantly smaller than control p <0.05 (t-test=6.62912, p=0.000000).

Segregation of DFNB49 with congenital sensorineural bilateral profound hearing loss

Deafness is a complete or partial loss of hearing. In Pakistan, the prevalence of this order is high as compared to the other countries because of frequent consanguineous marriages in Pakistan. During present study, DFNB49 was mapped in two unrelated consanguineous families having multiple affected individuals. The maximum LOD score was found 4.71 and 2.74 for PKDF1069 & PKDF751 respectively. T...

Evidence of vestibular and balance dysfunction in children with profound sensorineural hearing loss using cochlear implants.

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS Similarities between the peripheral auditory and vestibular systems suggest that children with sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) may demonstrate vestibular and balance impairments. This hypothesis was studied in 40 children with severe to profound SNHL and unilateral cochlear implants. STUDY DESIGN Prospective cross-sectional study with repeated measures. METHODS Vesti...
